Interactive: Continued

What would be the best way for me to showcase Nottingham? Or at least Nottingham from my perspective. I think the breif was supposed to be personal rather than this general so I can condense it by outlining my favourite part of Nottingham and its culture. After a seminar in which Simon showed us how to format the images he described how he would prefer the size of the final piece. In order to allow for the extra browser form, pop ups and site form he suggested we render to 800x350 pixels. This completely threw the image I had in my head about the tour using another virtual computer onscreen. I simply could not fit the proportions of a standard, recognisable compuer unit. I tried laptops, desktops and towers to no avail. 'I have to scrap the screen within a screen thing' I thought to myself. No problem really, it left me more time and space to make my own personal touches to what was happening o the screen. I just had to make a basic site that was similarly themed and that linked together properly. No worries.

Because I know so little about Dreamweaver and its capabilities I decided to do the entirety of
the design in another program, one i was familiar with. I was alot more confident that I could maintain a high standard using Adobe Photoshop. It does exactly what I wantit to do. All I need do with Dreamweaver is import each image and tag it all together.

Sqaure One

After hours of ponderance, I decided to go back to the drawing board. It was all becoming very negative, drawing attention the the worst aspects of the area I live in. I wanted to explore the best bits of Radford or even Nottingham as a whole. There's a ton of stuff out there. That's why I was drawn here. I've seen some damn interesting s**t since I've been here so I'm going to share it with you folks.

Interactive: Revised

After the complete disaster that was the Narrative project, I thought I could redeem my confidence with this one. I was really interested in learning more about web scripting and I thought Simon handled those of us who were absolute beginners very well. I learnt alot in the seminars and thought I could apply it well to the project. I was excited to begin.
Simon suggested we use where we live as a inspiration. I read that in quite a broad way and decided to take it out of my immediate residence and turn it into a quick tour of Radford Boulevard and its surrounding areas. It occured to me that Radford has quite a reputation for street crime and violence. The policewoman that was shot recently was right off the back of our house. Harsh times. I wanted to create a safe 'virtual' environment for the users to tour the streets. I thought that if I imitated a computer on screen it would give a secondary air of safety to the user, distancing them from the subject matter. It sounded good on paper but producing it could have been difficult due to my lack of technical knowledge.

Back Online

After a month of messing with computer components I'm back online. Christmas was productive. Identities brief coming along. More on that later. Need to finish off the interactive bit first.
